The .NET Framework is Microsoft’s comprehensive and consistent programming model for building applications that have visually stunning user experiences, seamless and secure communication, and the ability to model a range of business processes.

Since many Windows based applications are developed using .NET Framework, it is becoming mandatory to install .NET Framework on your computer.

If you download .NET Framework from Microsoft site, then it will either provide through Window Update or will download small file first then download actual file from Internet ( provided you have Internet connectivity) and install it.

Offline installer is always prefer, as it can be installed on computers which do not have Internet connections.
