Google’s Lively is shutting down

google lively logoGoogle Lively To Shut Down In December. Google is shutting down its Lively a virtual reality service just about four months after it was first announced, aiming to prioritize its resources and focus more on core search, ads and apps business.

Google plans to shut down the service at the end of the year, reflecting Lively’s inability to stand out from the rest of the virtual reality crowd.

It will shut down Lively on December 31, 2008. Embedded rooms in blogs and other web pages will continue to show an image, but users will no longer be able to enter Lively rooms and interact.

“We’ve also always accepted that when you take these kinds of risks not every bet is going to pay off,” Google wrote in a blog post.

Google encourage its Lively users to capture all your hard work by taking videos and screenshots of your rooms.
